Black Teacher Collaborative (BTC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that Black children have learning environments staffed by Black educators. What They Do Black Teacher Collaborative (BTC) provides professional development and education for Black educators.

Bloomberg Philanthropies, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and New Profit have provided funding for this important work. BTC’s mission is to engage, develop, and support an intergenerational collective of Black educators who will ensure that Black children achieve at high levels academically while simultaneously preparing them with the intellectual, social, emotional, and cultural capital to actively participate in the ongoing advancement of their communities. Our focus is on training and supporting black teachers who have a particular commitment to serving black students, and we describe those as “shared racial identity learning environments:” schools where greater than 65% teacher populations and greater than 85% student populations are the same racial background (black).
