2020-06-19 · Recently, the task of image generation has attracted much attention. In particular, the recent empirical successes of the Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) technique of Langevin Dynamics have prompted a number of theoretical advances; despite this, several outstanding problems remain. First, the Langevin Dynamics is run in very high dimension on a nonconvex landscape; in the worst case, due to Analysis of Langevin MC via Convex Optimization in one of them does not imply convergence in the other. Convergence in one of these metrics implies a control on the bias of MCMC based estimators of the form f^ n= n 1 P n k=1 f(Y k), where (Y k) k2N is Markov chain ergodic with respect to the target density ˇ, for fbelonging to a certain class tional MCMC methods use the full dataset, which does not scale to large data problems. A pioneering work in com-bining stochastic optimization with MCMC was presented in (Welling and Teh 2011), based on Langevin dynam-ics (Neal 2011). This method was referred to as Stochas-tic Gradient Langevin Dynamics (SGLD), and required only Recently [Raginsky et al., 2017, Dalalyan and Karagulyan, 2017] also analyzed convergence of overdamped Langevin MCMC with stochastic gradient updates. Asymptotic guarantees for overdamped Langevin MCMC was established much earlier in [Gelfand and Mitter, 1991, Roberts and Tweedie, 1996].

Introduction In this paper, we study the continuous time underdamped Langevin diffusion represented by the following stochastic differential equation (SDE): dvt= vtdt u∇f(xt)dt+(√ 2 u)dBt (1) dxt= vtdt;
In Section 3 , our main algorithm is proposed. We first present a detailed online damped L-BFGS algorithm which is used to approximate the inverse Hessian-vector product and discuss the properties of the approximated inverse Hessian.

SGLD is the first-order Euler discretization of Langevin diffusion with stationary distribution on Euclidean space. In Section 2, we review some backgrounds in Langevin dynamics, Riemann Langevin dynamics, and some stochastic gradient MCMC algorithms. In Section 3 , our main algorithm is proposed. We first present a detailed online damped L-BFGS algorithm which is used to approximate the inverse Hessian-vector product and discuss the properties of the approximated inverse Hessian.

To construct an irreversible algorithm on Lie groups, we first extend Langevin dynamics to general symplectic manifolds M based on Bismut’s symplectic diffusion process [bismut1981mecanique].Our generalised Langevin dynamics with multiplicative noise and nonlinear dissipation has the Gibbs measure as the invariant measure, which allows us to design MCMC algorithms that sample from a Lie
Stochastic Gradient Langevin Dynamics (SGLD) has emerged as a key MCMC algorithm for Bayesian learning from large scale datasets. While SGLD with decreasing step sizes converges weakly to the posterior distribution, the algorithm is often used with a constant step size in practice and has demonstrated successes in machine learning tasks.
